The Question is: I am running TCP/IP (UCX) V4.2 ECO 3 and am getting the following: UCX$TELNETSYM - (PRINTER) open_scoket_ast invoked with bad IOSB 556: device timeout. I have the following Logicals set. "OPENVMS$TELNET" = "SYS$SYSTEM:UCX$TELNET.EXE" "UCX$TELNETSYM_IDLE_TIMEOUT" = "0 00:00:15" "UCX$TELNETSYM_RETRY_INTERVAL" = "0 00:00:15" The printers affected Stall after one job prints and most often this happens after a reboot of the systems. The Answer is : Contact the Compaq Customer Support Center directly. You will need to identify the specific printer(s) involved, as well as the following: the queue settings, the validity and error counts from the local network, the ability to ping and to telnet to the printer(s), as well as other related information. (This may be a TCP/IP Services problem, a host configuration problem, a printer configuration problem, a network routing configuration problem, a network cabling or hardware problem, a network traffic overload, or a printer problem.)
