The Question is: We are running a legacy application involving a DOS client running Tektronix terminal emulation that requires maintaining Pathworks 4x and 5.x compatibility. We are currently running Pathworks 5.0D. After viewing wiz_2711.html, where an upgrade is advis ed, is there any other way to get connectivity from NT workstations to the Pathworks file shares? I am getting 2 Messages "Connection attempt denied:" and "No more connections can be made to this remote computer at this time because there are already as many connections as the computer can accept". I purchased an additional Pathworks CAL and installed it on the server but this did not fix the problem. What is the minimum Pathworks upgrade that would allow this NT workstation connectivity? The Answer is : If you are to upgrade PATHWORKS, you will want to upgrade to the V5.0F-ECO2 release for the V5 product. The reported error indicates a lack of a license. There are differences in how Microsoft Windows 95 and Windows NT clients verify the presence of the PATHWORKS client license -- that these two platforms show differing behaviours is (unfortunately) not particularly surprising. A Windows NT system can erroneously connect to the PATHWORKS file server multiple times, resulting in the consumption of multiple client licenses. (This misfeature is dependent on the particular Windows NT service pack loaded.) Additional information on the PATHWORKS CAL license will be required, as the number of units will indicate the number of licensed clients. Please directly contact the Compaq Customer Support Center for further assistance and discussion of this.
