Limits of the ZIP tool?

The Question is:

 
Do you know if the ZIP utility has a limit for the file size?
We try to zip a 4,000,000 blocks file and it doesn't work

  No clue, sorry -- "doesn't work" covers an effectively infinite
  potential problem set.  Please check with the maintainer(s) of
