HP OpenVMS Systemsask the wizard |
The Question is: We have pathworks V6.0B installed on VMS v7.2-1. Client is NT4 SP4. We are backing up via NT backup a large file, 800MB from VMS directly to DLT tape on the NT system. About 3 minutes into the copy, we get a a message saying "network drive is not respondi ng" and the backup aborts. In all other respects, ie small files the server works fine. Is there some network timeout that is occuring or ? The Answer is : The OpenVMS Wizard would recommend using OpenVMS tools to back up files local to the OpenVMS system. This particular problem could arise at any number of different components, ranging from OpenVMS to Windows NT, and most anything in between -- you will likely need to contact the Compaq Customer Support Center directly to determine the particular cause of this failure. (If you wish to pursue this, the first step in diagnosing this will involve acquiring a network trace -- to determine where the error occurs, and to determine exactly what the error is, and then to (hopefully) particularly what is triggering the error. The V6.0B release is rather old, please upgrade to V6.0C or (better) to Advanced Server V7.2A or later.
