The Question is: I am running OpenVMS 7.1 and TCPIP Services V4.2, and I am using NFS Client. I am mounting a Digital Unix system and creating/reading files from it. My problem is that when I create files, VMS is appending it's version number to each file. How do I get VMS not to append the version numbers. Kind regards, Andrew Kirk. Technical Analylst - Tarmac Group IT Services The Answer is : OpenVMS applications often expect and specify a file version number, and the client dutifully passes the specification through to the NFS server. The OpenVMS Wizard is not particularly aware of a way to disable this behaviour, nor to somehow "filter off" the version numbers that are passed around via NFS.
