The Question is: I have a multi-node multi-cluster environment. We have both VAX and Alpha nodes. There are many users who have accounts on multiple clusters. This currently requires them to have seperate passwords for each account on each cluster. I am wondering if t here is a way to 1. Have a single sign-on point that will then point them to the correct node. 2. When a user changes a password for one account it changes the password for the other accounts for the same user on different clusters. Thanks Dave The Answer is : The only approach currently available for single sign-on is via Advanced Server, LAN Manager, and External Authentication. V7.3 (currently in field test) provides access to Kerberos-based single sign-on capabilities, and an OpenVMS-based Kerberos client and Kerberos server. Additional work in this area is presently underway, including the implementation of a generic API permitting OpenVMS to be connected to site-specific external authentication (hardware or software) mechanisms.
