The Question is: We have a GS140 running OpenVMS 7.2-1, TCPIP 5.0A with the following patches applied: VMS721_F11X-V0100 VMS721_FIBRECHAN-V0300 (for PCI Firbre channel card, which is installed) VMS721_LAN-V0100 VMS721_PCSI-V0100 VMS721_UPDATE-V0100 We are having a problem mounting a share from this VMS box to a WIN2000 server using "Windows services for Unix" The share mounts, but it takes 3 to 5 minutes to open a file on the WIN2000 server, No errors appear on the VMS system or the WIN2000 server. I have a couple of calls logged with Compaq as well as Microsoft. It appears that this problem started after the above patches were applied. I also have shares mounted on NT 4+ machines from this VMS box using "NFS MEASTRO" that are not having a problem. Any ideas? The Answer is : The initial assumption of the OpenVMS Wizard would be around Advanced Server or around the responsiveness of the local IP network, as that is the mechanism that serves OpenVMS disks "shares" via SMB protocols. This answer assumes that these disks are served from OpenVMS to the Windows 2000 system, of course. If the mount is via NFS and the OpenVMS system is the client and the Windows 2000 system is the server, then the OpenVMS Wizard would first load the current ECO of TCP/IP Services and apply that. Without rather more detailed research and likely access to this or an equivalent configuration, it is not feasible to indicate if the problem is related to one of these ECO kits, or if this behaviour is potentially caused by something other than the contents of or the application of these ECO kits. Continued work with the Compaq Customer Support Center will be the most appropriate course of action.
