The Question is: I have a directory that will not accept any additional files because it appears to be full. Block usage is 123/123 and allocation size is set for 123. Is it possible to increase the allocation size of this directory? The disk drive has over 20,000 free blocks. Thanks. The Answer is : The OpenVMS Wizard is not aware of an "appears to be full" error, and would encourage the specific text of relevent message(s) be included. That said, you have very little free space available on your disk, and your remaining free space disk is probably quite fragmented -- excessive disk fragmentation can prevent the expansion of directory files. (The messages included with the failure will generally point to the specifics of the failure.) The usual course(s) of action involve freeing up disk space by purging or deleting unneeded files, and/or freeing up space by relocating files to other available disks, and/or by freeing space by moving the contents to larger disk(s), and/or defragmenting the disk structure.
