The Question is: Dear Sir: I have an Alpha DECpc AXP 150 running NT 4.0, ROM 1.9, SRM 34a BIOS emulation V 1.13, ARC V 4.31 (950504.1631). I would like to include OpenVMS either. Would you please send info about how to get the installation CD and license? I have another question: I recently installed an Exabyte EXB-8200 drive in the SCSI bus and WinNT supports this drive (Rev 425a). However, ARC V4.31 says : "DEVICE DETECTED BUT NOT SUPPORTED BY THE FIRMWARE". So, I am trying to install the last firmware version dec2000_v2_2.exe f or NT from ftp.digital.com/pub/Digital/Alpha/firmware unsuccessfully. Following the instructions "Update Floppy A" I am getting the following error: ERROR no such file or directory" . Would you please help with this matters? Thanks Luiz Emediato The Answer is : For hobbyist OpenVMS use, please see the details in the OpenVMS FAQ. For commercial use, please contact your Compaq sales representative. For information on third-party storage devices, please contact the storage vendor. The OpenVMS Wizard is not familiar with ARC nor with AlphaBIOS, nor with its configuration or operation. The OpenVMS Wizard is aware that there are very specific limitations around the SCSI hardware configuration of the Adaptec SCSI controller used in this particular system, and that no attempt should be made to extend the internal SCSI bus outside of the system enclosure. If an external connection is required, an additional Adaptec 174x series SCSI controller will be required. OpenVMS and SRM console also have specific Adaptec SCSI ROM version requirements: revision G.1 or G.2 is required. For OpenVMS Alpha, the motherboard 54-20674-01 must be revison E04 or later, and motherboard 70-29685-01 (contains 54-20674-02 and 54-20676-01) must be at revision A01 or later.
