The Question is: I'm running VMS 7.2 on my Alpha and im connecting to the Aplha using a ftp program. I would like to bypass protection via authorice "/defpriv=bypass". But setting any extra priviliges prevents my ftp login. The answer i get is = can't connect tp xxxxxx, P ASS command failed: 530 login incorrect., 530 Login incorrect. (yes the last part repeated twize). The Answer is : Why not simply set all files and all objects world (network) writable? (That is the equivilent, and certainly as [in]secure...) Please check the log files on the remote (target) system, looking for any reported errors. Please confirm that you have the current TCP/IP Services or third-party TCP/IP product version and current ECO kit installed. If the problem(s) persist, you will want to contact the Compaq Customer Support Center or the organization that is supporting the particular TCP/IP product in use. If/when you contact the Compaq Customer Support Center, please expect to be asked to identify the OpenVMS TCP/IP Services version and ECO level, and expect to be asked details of the log file contents.
