The Question is: I'm using OpenVMS version 7.2-1 with TCP/IP version 5.0A. I have programs that log into the machine and redisplay the output at the requesting computer (Vax,Alpha,UNIX). One particular Alpha returns a NULL for the strings: F$TRNLNM ("SYS$REM_ID") and ("SYS$REM_ID") during a Telnet session. This is the newest of my Alphas with the most recent software. All the others return values as documented. Was there a change that got rid of these strings? The Answer is : This appears related to a known problem in TCP/IP Services V5.0A process creation, and that problem has been addressed in the V5.1 release.
