HSZ40 NVRAM serial number lost?

The Question is:

 
We have a standalone HSZ40 storage controller lost power with a bad NVRAM
 battery, which has since been replaced.  However, when the controller is
 powered up it complains that it cannot determine the serial number.  Is there
 an undocumented command that m
ay be used to set the serial number in the controller to the value on its label?

The Answer is :

 
  Please contact your hardware service organization or Compaq Services.
  (The controller module will likely need to be replaced or returned for
  refurbishment, as there is rather more to the information that has been
