The Question is: Can I server our system disk - a shadow set - and do my Multinet 4.3 upgrade on one disk. If it failed, I simply delete all the files then rejoin the disk reboot the system. This way can avoid the system disk corruption??? Do you think it will work better than so called restore the system disk??? P.S. The operating system on out Alpha 4100 cluster is OpenVMS v 7.1-2 Many thanks ahead. The Answer is : Assuming the shadowset volumes were split up correctly and that all of the volumes were in a consistent state when split, when the volumes are later reconstituted into a shadowset you can choose which shadowset volume will be the initial shadowset master. If you simply add the upgraded volume to the existing shadowset, it will be overwritten with the contents of the existing shadowset volume(s), erasing the effects of the upgrade. If you dismount the shadowset, then start to form the new shadowset based on the upgraded volume, the other shadowset member volume(s) will be overwritten by the contents of the updated volume. The use of Multinet or other product is irrelevent to the question.
