The Question is: Hi, I am configuring a dual-redundant RA3000 controller with six 9GB drives in a split-bus BA356. I am setting this up as three virtual disks based on RAID 0+1, the disk partitions being 12GB, 7GB and 6.409GB in size. My question is: when setting the RAID strip size, how does one relate it to the known I/O sizes? These drives are replacing a set of DSSI drives and I have extracted histograms of the I/O sizes from the DSSI disks. These indicate that the most common I/ Os for this application are approximately 5-6 and 9-10 blocks. So should I set the strip size to 32 bocks (being the smallest size that the RA3000 will allow) or should it be larger? The Answer is : Please contact a Compaq StorageWorks Wizard or the Compaq Customer Support Center.
