The Question is: I have 2 Ethernet cards installed on our Alphaserver 4100. 1 DE435 10mb thick-wire on address EWA-0 and 1 DE500 100mb thin-wire on address EWB-0. The DE435 is used to support DECserver 200s and the DE500 is used by UCX. Is it possible for me to configure DECNET to use the DE500 card EWB-0 address for one particular terminal server. Whenever I attempt to SET LINE or SET CIRC for this EWB-0 address i get : G$mc ncp NCP>set line ewb-0 state off %NCP-W-INVIDE, Invalid identification format , Line %SYSTEM-F-IVDEVNAM, invalid device name NCP> Is it possible to have to devices using DECNET v4. If so how.? The Answer is : If the OpenVMS Wizard understands the question, the OpenVMS Wizard would use LANCP to access and maintain the particular DECserver terminal server and other MOP targets. Not DECnet. If you choose to use DECnet for MOP, you can enter the service circuit in the DECnet NCP or NCL database for the DECnet node name that is associated with the DECserver. In the case of DECnet Phase IV, via the NCP SET and DEFINE NODE commands, and specifically the SERVICE CIRCUIT option on these commands. You can also explicitly specify the circuit on the NCP CONNECT VIA command. Note that the DECserver 200 and other DECserver devices use DECnet solely for MOP -- LANCP can be used for MOP, with or without DECnet installed -- and the node entry referenced above exists solely for MOP. LANCP maintains its own database of nodes and service circuits.
