The Question is: We have LPS17 printers on our network which are loaded using the MOP protocol. We would like to remove the MOP protocol from the segment and transition to BOOTP. Will the LPS17 receive its brains using BOOTP rather than MOP. Thanks Warren The Answer is : PrintServer printers, including the LPS17, can boot via BOOTP from Unix and Windows systems. From OpenVMS, the only supported boot method is MOP. While bootp support is available on OpenVMS TCP/IP Services, the OpenVMS Wizard would not expect that this configuration has been particularly tested -- MOP is the default, prefered, expected, and supported load path for PrintServer printer devices downloaded from OpenVMS systems. You do not need DECnet for access to or the use of MOP, please see the LANCP tool that is available on OpenVMS V6.2 and later.
