Cluster and SECURITY_SERVER, AUDIT_SERVER?

» close window

The Question is:

I have inheritied the management of a cluster that has a net$proxy.dat file in
 each nodes sys$sysroot:[sysexe]directory.

Is there anyway to stop security_server migrate the net$proxy.dat to a common
 area and restart security_server. I can do the later 2 but cannot seem to
 find a way to remove stop the security_server process, without rebooting
 minumum.

Do you have any ideas please ?

The Answer is :

  Migrate the contents of all individual NET$PROXY files into a (new)
  common file, remove or rename the old files, and then restart the
  servers. The OpenVMS Wizard strongly recommends checking VMS$OBJECTS
  and the other common files whilst making these cluster configuration
  corrections -- a list of most of (all of?) the files that are common
  or must be synchronized across all cluster members are included in
  the SYLOGICALS.TEMPLATE file provided in OpenVMS V7.2 and later.

  To restart the AUDIT_SERVER and the SECURITY_SERVER:

    o Check for the SYS$AUDIT_SERVER_INHIBIT logical name,
      DEASSIGN it if found.

    o Check the SECURITY_POLICY settings, as flag bits 4 and 5 are
      specific to site-specific security operations.

    o Stop the SECURITY_SERVER:
        $ SET SERVER SECURITY/EXIT

    o Stop the Audit Server via:
        $ SET AUDIT/SERVER=EXIT

    o Confirm that the security servers and audit servers have exited.

    o Restart the Audit Server via:
        $ @SYS$SYSTEM:STARTUP AUDIT_SERVER

    o Restart the SECURITY_SERVER via:
        $ SET SERVER SECURITY/START

  Of course, the simplest solution involves a system reboot.

  The OpenVMS Wizard encourages an upgrade to OpenVMS Alpha V7.1-2, to
  V7.2-1, or to a later release.
