HP OpenVMS Systemsask the wizard |
The Question is: I have a four node VMS cluster that has a cluster mounted disk with a directory that contains file name entries, but no files. If you issue the command: dir dsa1:[pms.fa.rep.auto.hly], the system returns a list of 6 files. There are no files present. If I issue the command del dsa1:[pms.fa.rep.auto.hly]*.*;*, the system returns six errors, listing each file name and a "file not found" error. (%DELETE-W-FILNOTDEL, error deleting DSA1:[PMS.FA.REP.AUTO.HLY]HLY_20001005_1301_BOP_10.DAT;1 -RMS-E-ENF, file not found. We have performed an image backup and image restore on this disk in an attempt to remove these "ghost" file entries. How do we get these file name entries deleted from the directory? The Answer is : The OpenVMS Wizard will assume these entries are simply file headers with no files -- this typically involves alias entries. Assuming that DIRECTORY/FULL shows "no such file", you can use the DCL command SET FILE/REMOVE to remove the dangling alias entries.
