The Question is: We are running OpenVMS 7.2-1 on an AlphaServer 4100. We just upgraded the RAM to 8GB. We have done some testing and it seems that we can get to approximately 49% utilization of the memory and then VMS starts paging. Is there a system variable that we need to set to utilize the memory that we have added? Thanks in advance, Kevin The Answer is : Some OpenVMS system components require residence in S0 or S1 space, while others are moving or have moved to S2 (64-bit) space. Details of the particular current contents of system space would be quite useful, if you wish to pursue the cause of the reported OpenVMS system paging. Please read the information on increasing the system physical memory provided in the OpenVMS FAQ, and please also remember to AUTOGEN the system with FEEDBACK. V7.3 and later will load the entire OpenVMS executive into non-pageable system memory, and without increasing the physical memory requirements and the non-paged usage by OpenVMS over that of earlier OpenVMS releases.
