CTERM, telnet, LAT, Most efficient?

The Question is:

 
Which protocol served terminal emulator & terminal servers
provide less overall system & network overload
CTERM, telnet, LAT. Network here is usual LAN, and there is no other
 restriction, except one -all computers use tcp/ip by default.
Please do fluent comprison between these
 protocols to help me to persuade my user to
follow a sentient order.
