The Question is: How can I tell when a file was last accessed? We have a system here which has grown in file quantity over a period of 6 years and many files we suspect are no longer needed. DIR/FULL will show created and revised dates, but what if the file is viewed or accessed without any changes being made? Is this information available ? We are reluctant to delete files without the knowledge of whether they are still being used for lookup . Thanks in advance The Answer is : Use the file expiration dates mechanism. These dates are updated on file access (if necessary). Please see HELP SET VOLUME/RETENTION for details. Part of the DII COE effort will more directly provide this mechanism within the file system.
