The Question is: I am using the eSNMP Mib at work. My problem is the agent in the snmp message header. Because of our architecture we have an ethernet and an FDDI interface in our workstations 500au with Digital Unix V4.0D and V4.0F. The system which receives our traps is connected via the FDDI but it not only checks the oid but also the agent of the snmp header. In this case it has the IP address of the Ethernet interface which is not registered at the other system because it is just our internal network. I already tried to change the order of the Ethernet and FDDI interfaces but it did not help. Calling "ifconfig -a " the Ethernet interface was always the one listed first. My question is now is there a way to change this agent? Is there a global variable or a function I could use? I have not found anything in the eSNMP documentation yet. Thanks for your help in advance, Miriam The Answer is : The usual mechanism for registering host names and address translations is via DNS services or via the TCP/IP Services databases. Please contact the Compaq Customer Support Center. Expect to be asked details of the TCP/IP Services version, the subnet addressing used, and the configuration requirements.
