the relevent version information, and relevent configuration information.
Based on the prefixes shown, you are running an older version of TCP/IP
Services and (based on the OpenVMS version) you will want to upgrade to
OpenVMS VAX V7.2 or V7.3 (with ECOs), and you will want to upgrade to
TCP/IP Services V5.0A or V5.1 (with ECO). If you cannot upgrade, please
move to V4.2 with the current ECO applied.
This particular error would imply that the UID/GID proxy mappings for
rsh are not set up to permit the specified (or default) access from
the remote (UNIX) user.
Assuming you are running from and have a proxy from root (lowercase)
or other user on the UNIX system for access to the system (lowercase)
username on OpenVMS, the following UNIX command:
rsh iphost -l system directory
should operate as expected, and should display a DIRECTORY of the
default directory for the SYSTEM username.
