The Answer is :

Unfortunately, there is insufficient detail here for an answer.

  Define the logical name

    DEFINE/SYSTEM/EXECUTIVE tcpip$smtp_log_level 5

And restart SMTP. This will provide you with a log of the SMTP
symbiont activities, and potentially with clues to the problem
reported. Deassign the logical name and restart SMTP when done.

From the log file, you might find a 501-related response such as:

recv buf=501 <user@host>... Sender domain must exist

Which would imply anti-spam features have been enabled. Use nslookup
or similar, and check for anti-spam relay settings. (Depending on
the particular firewall configuration, you might be able to use the
SMTP substitute domain mechanism (SET CONFIG SMTP/SUBSTITUTE_DOMAIN).)

Please apply the available ECO for V5.0A or move to V5.1 with ECO,
and try your tests again, and check the log. If the problem persists,
please contact the Compaq customer support center directly. Expect
to be asked details of the ECO status and the log file.
