The Question is:
I am trying to get information on a keyboard
driver that we could use to most closely
assimilate the Extended ASCII character set
on the PC for our Alpha 1200.
The one we currently use does not correctly
map ASCII 127-160 & ASCII 164,166,168,172-175,
180,184,190,208,215,221,222,240,247,253-255.
So, of the 255 ASCII characters, 53 do not work
correctly.
We use Attachemate Extra! Personal Client 6.5 as a user interface to the Alpha
on our PC.
I called them & they know nothing, so I was
wondering if this would be a Compaq product offering that will output all 255
ASCII characters from
the keyboard screen when typing ALT + the 4 digit ASCII decimal number. I
realize the correct printer fonts is the other component.
We have already internally completed this part.
I would really appreciate any information you could give me or any leads
towards a solution.

P.S. - I get my 202 correct ASCII characters by
using Terminal Mode = VT 400-8bit
Character set mode= Multinational
National Set= North America
User Preferred set= DECS-MICS
These are settings from Attachement Extra
but I think they're referencing one of DEC's formats.
The Answer is : Um, those are not ASCII chacters. Those are PC-specific characters. Further, it appears you have a complaint with the particular terminal emulator or X Windows package you are using on the PC. (The OpenVMS Wizard is not familiar with this PC package.) You will want to locate another PC-based terminal emulator and/or keyboard map and/or X Windows emulator -- the PATHWORKS environment packages offer a terminal emulator and an X Windows emulator known as eXcursion. If you wish to pursue this with your PC package vendor, there are some X Windows keyboard maps for Linux system users accessing OpenVMS that are included on the OpenVMS Freeware.
