The Question is: Dear Wizard, I am using an Alpha 200 4/100, and I would like to know if it is possible to stop the screen from going into hibernation every 9 minutes. I have a remote terminal screen set up to watch streaming data, and I have to run down the hall to wake the machine up all day. Thanks, JD The Answer is : Assuming this is not simply the DECwindows screen saver operating as expected, the OpenVMS Wizard is not familiar with this behaviour on any recent OpenVMS configuration. (Under DECwindows Motif, the screen saver setting is accessable via the Screen Background option in the Session Manager Options menu pulldown. Using the menus, you can set the number of minutes before the screen saver activates, or you can entirely disable the screen saver.) As OpenVMS Alpha V6.1 -- and likely also the (unspecified) version of DECwindows -- is (are) not current, the OpenVMS Wizard would first suggest an upgrade to software that is slightly more recent, and the application of the associated ECO kits.
