Connecting HP Printer to OpenVMS?

The Question is:

 
We want to connect our Alpha Workstation running OpenVMS 7.1 to HP printer
 4050TN through parallel port. What are the steps that we should do? Thank you.

The Answer is :

 
  Except in configurations that are exceedingly small, exceedingly
  limited in scope, and exceedingly unlikely to expand, the OpenVMS
  Wizard cannot recommend direct parallel connection of a printer.
 
  The HP LaserJet 4050TN is reportedly a workgroup printer, and appears
  to include a JetDirect NIC.  Please use the existing printer NIC (or
  please acquire and install a NIC), and connect the printer to the
  network.
 
  Then please review topic (1020), and please review existing discussions
  of connecting the HP LaserJet 4050 series printers to OpenVMS.
 
  Please move to OpenVMS Alpha V7.1-2, V7.2-1, or later.
