The Question is: Hi, I am using a VAXstation model 4000/60, VMS version 5.5-1 for my project. My graphics card has only monochrome capability. When I open my DECWindow, the background is either green or black. The same applies for the foreground (ie. the text color). I would like to know whether is it possible to change the color display to just black and white. This means a black background with white color text. If so, how do I go about doing it? The Answer is : You apparently have a color monitor connected to a monochrome (or grayscale) graphics controller, and this configuration will produce whatever color the graphics controller video cable is hooked to. This configuration means you have a choice of three colors -- red, green, or blue, most commonly -- for your display. You will want to acquire a color graphics adapter for the TURBOchannel, or you will want to acquire a monochrome display, or you will want to use the networking capabilities of DECwindows (X Windows) to display your output on another system. This all assumes that you do not simply have the wrong or a misconnected graphics cable, and this is causing the (color) graphics controller you presently have installed to display only on the green connection. For details on display monitors and graphics controllers and particularly on setting up the graphics resolution, please see the OpenVMS FAQ. Without specifics of the graphics display and the graphics controller and the cable, no more specific answer can be provided.
