HP OpenVMS Systemsask the wizard |
The Question is: I have an AlphaStation 250 4/266 with two networking cards. I would like to turn off the first networking card. I have been unable to find out how to do this. I have tried using NCP to disable the line or circuit with no luck. I have removed the prima ry card and the system still reports it being there. The primary card is "cabled" into the motherboard. Is it possible? Do I do it in MODPARAMS.DAT? Using NCP? Thanks The Answer is : "With no luck" is not an OpenVMS error message nor specific terminology that that the OpenVMS Wizard recognizes. For a specific answer, the relevent product versions, specific sequences of commands used, and specific sequences of messages and (if applicable) the full text of all resulting error messages are required. Without these, the OpenVMS Wizard has insufficient information to resolve questions. Accordingly, please contact the Compaq Customer Support Center, as additional details are required. With the DECnet Phase IV tool NCP, you can use the PURGE (alters the DECnet Phase IV permanent database) and CLEAR (the volatile database) commands to remove the LINE and CIRCUIT associated with the controller NIC, or (often simpler and safer) you can use the SET and DEFINE commands to STATE OFF the LINE and CIRCUIT -- this will disable use of the NIC. The MODPARAMS.DAT file is specific to the site-specific system parameter requirements, and is unrelated to the OpenVMS device configuration mechanisms.
