The Question is:

 
How can I connect to an MS SQL Server 2000 database from an application running
 on VMS?
 
Our current applications are written in Basic, but could be re-written in C or
 C++ if needed.

The Answer is :

 
  COM for OpenVMS, ODBC, and an SQL client are the most common approaches.
  COM is available from Compaq, while third-party providers have ODBC and
  SQL products for OpenVMS.  Also see the ODBC entry in the FAQ.
