The Question is: If we use a NTP client in UCX, and the NTP client detects that the time has changed from Winter to summer time, how can our processes detect this? Can we get any type of interup or somthing from the OS so we know that the time has changed? We programme in Pascal The Answer is : Your OpenVMS and TCP/IP Services versions are simply too old for this capability -- OpenVMS Alpha V7.3 and TCP/IP Services V5.1 have this capability built into NTP; the version of NTP included in V5.1 uses the TDF event that is first available in OpenVMS V7.3. For V5.1 on earlier versions, the restart of NTP is (as referenced in the FAQ) necessary. Please see the OpenVMS FAQ section on time for general details on time, timekeeping, and related topics. Specifically see the details in the FAQ section entitled "Managing Timezones, Timekeeping, UTC, and Daylight Savings?"
