The Question is: Hi Wizard, Is there anyway to set up LPD to never send out "LPD Retrying failed job" messages to the user when there is something wrong with the printer. We use an application where "everyone" logs in as the same users and consequently all users gets this message. W e have tried testing with reply/disable which worked but we got problems with the applocation instead. Do you know any solution to this? The Answer is : You report unspecified problems with the application when OPCOM message reception is disabled. Without the inclusion of specific details on the problem(s), no specific answer is possible. Most commonly, you will want to disable the broadcasts or the OPCOMs that you do not wish to see -- see the OPC$* logical names in SYLOGICALS.TEMPLATE, the REPLY command you have already found, and see the SET BROADCAST command. The OpenVMS Wizard cannot recommend shared usernames, as this causes extensive accountability, security, and tracking problems. (This is just one example of the problems you can encounter.)
