Adding/Upgrading Processor Module? (SMP)

The Question is:

 
What if anything do I have to do in add a second CPU in an es40?
 

The Answer is :

 
  You will need/want to have:
 
    o the additional processor module.
    o verification of the revision of the existing processor module.
    o a free slot for the processor module.
    o appropriate hardware training or experience.
    o appropriate electrostatic handling experience.
    o sufficient license units for SMP operations.
    o applications lacking latent bugs; see topic (1661) for details.
    o current firmware.
    o processor installation (or service) documentation.
    o probably a few items that the OpenVMS Wizard has missed...
 
  You will likely want to contact your hardware service organization
  for assistance.  If you wish to perform self-maintenance, please
  review the available owners documentation for the AlphaServer ES40
  series and self-maintenance documentation -- the latter is part of
  the Compaq Assisted Services program, please see the OpenVMS FAQ
