HP OpenVMS Systemsask the wizard |
The Question is: We have recently upgraded to OpenVMS7.3 (and to the version of DecWindows that is supplied on the cd) from OpenVMS7.1. Everything has gone fine except that we can no longer start a DECTerm from within DecWindows. We click on the icon (or from the menu) and it seems to accept the request, but no DECTerm window appears. No error messages appear to explain why this is the case. As you can imagine this is hampering our support of the server. The server is a 4100, and we have applied the mandatory security update. Is this a known bug and/or is there a fix? The Answer is : Please review the DECwindows log files for any information relevent to the problem. DECwindows is sensitive to process quotas and to sufficient system resources. The OpenVMS FAQ contains information on troubleshooting DECwindows. Please ensure that the system parameter VCC_FLAGS is set to 1, pending the installation of XFC ECO V2.0 or later, when available. Please also ensure that you have the mandatory patches for OpenVMS Alpha V7.3 loaded. If the problem persists, please contact the support center directly. Expect to be asked details of the DECterm environment, the graphics controller, the process and system environment, and related.
