Connecting to StorageTek L700?

The Question is:

 
I have an Alpha Server GS 320. I want to connect this to our existing
 StorageTek L700 library with DLT8000. We plan on moving to SDLT in the future.
 The Library is SCSI. I was told that I may need extra software for this
 connection ? If so - what will I n
eed ?
