The Question is: I am having problems mounting an NFS directory exported by an OpenVMS VAX server. When I attempt to mount the directory, I receive a SYSTEM-F-DATALOST error. Any ideas as to what would cause this? It doesn't matter if I try mounting the directory from a different NFS client (another OpenVMS or linux client) or even if I try mounting it on the same VAX (that machine acts as an NFS server & client). I can configure an OpenVMS Alpha 2100 (running OpenVMS Alpha 7.2-1 & TCP/IP V5.1 with no ECO's installed) identically to the VAX mentioned above (the only difference is the physical device name in the tcpip map command--export name is identical, permissio ns on files/directories are the same, tcpip proxies are the same, etc.) and have no problems at all mounting from the same machine or other NFS clients. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The Answer is : Please move to the current ECO or (better) to the current release and ECO of TCP/IP Services, as a start. Please contact the support center, as far more detail on the current configuration and potentially a trace will be required. Please expect to be asked details of the remote NFS server, including details of the remote OpenVMS VAX platform, including the NFS product and version involved.
