The Question is: What does the process state RWMPB mean? Under what circumstances would a process enter or leave the RWMPB state? The Answer is : RWMPB is a Resource Wait, Modified Page Writer Busy. The system is scanning for dead page table entries. When the number of pages on the modified page list exceeds MPW_WAITLIMIT, a value which should be set equal or larger than MPW_HILIMIT, then a process undergoing a pagefault will enter RWMPB if: - its working set is full (i.e. another page must be removed before the required page can be faulted in), and - the page to be removed would be going onto the modified list. RWMPB is intended to prevent rogue processes from flooding the modified page list, forcing the modified page writer to continually flush pages to the pagefile.
