The Question is: The Missing Carriage Return Problem! If I attempt to print a document that is saved in "Variable Length" format (e.g. created by the VMS EDT editor), and the document contains any form feed characters that are immediately followed by a carriage-return line-feed sequence, the carriage-return line-feed sequence is removed, resulting in the relevant pages being printed one line too high on the page. If the same document is saved in "Stream" format (e.g. if the document is available via a PATHWORKS network share and I open it in Notepad), the document prints correctly. And an extra carriage-return line-feed shows up in the document when I open it usin g the VMS EDT editor! Any ideas on what's causing this? The Answer is : OpenVMS prints these files quite nicely on various printers, accordingly, please see topic (1020) and related printing topics, as the OpenVMS Wizard will assume that this is a creature of the particular printing mechanisms used, and further will assume that the printing involved is based on a network connection to a printer. Telnet-based printing on various devices, in particular, offers various knobs to control printing behaviour.
