HP OpenVMS Systemsask the wizard |
The Question is: All right, I admit that I lied. This is a hardware question, not a VMS question. Feel free to discard it as inappropriate. That would be an improvement over the completely useless responses I got from SUPPORT@COMPAQ.COM. I have an XP1000 (model E2F6W-A9, serial NI91109025) which, after some gentle (I thought) transportation, has ceased communicating with the workstation keyboard/graphics or serial console. I seek on-line or paper documentation describing the main-board LEDs and/or low-level serial terminal access. I found some suitable material for older machines, but not for this one. Eternal gratitude could be yours, oh great and powerful wizard. The Answer is : Please contact your hardware services organization for assistance with this and with all other hardware-related problems. For information on self-maintenance, please review the associated information and links available in the OpenVMS FAQ. Related topics include "WHERE CAN I GET SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE SUPPORT INFORMATION?" and "WHERE CAN I GET HARDWARE SELF-MAINTENANCE SUPPORT ASSISTANCE?". As for the FTP download area for the available documentation for various hardware: ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/supportinformation/techpubs/ And specifically for the AlphaStation XP1000 series hardware: ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/supportinformation/techpubs/ maintenance_guides/120205-002.pdf ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/supportinformation/techpubs/ installation_guides/ek-cpwxp-sia01.pdf ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/supportinformation/techpubs/ qrg/alphastation_xp_1000.pdf This particular problem could result from any in a range of potential problems from a loose board to a complete system hardware failure. The OpenVMS Wizard is not a Hardware Wizard and is not in a particular position to assist with troubleshooting nor repairing of hardware. Again, please contact your hardware services organization directly, or please consider the available self-maintenance services offerings.
