The Question is: How do I set the IP address on the DecLaser 3500 NIC? The User's Guide book talks about using bootp, rarp, or reverse ping (among other methods suitable for PCs!). I think I have configured bootp according to the UCX documenation, but I have not been ab le to get it to do anything with our version of UCX 4.1. RARP and reverse ping illude me at the moment. After configuring bootp, restarting UCX, and cycling power on the DecLaser 3500, the NIC address does not change from the default it was set to when we purchased the DEcLaser 3500. I am using a LAN with VAX/ALPHA processors only, no PC's please. I will be using an IP address with a subnet mask on our LAN. Any help will be greatly appreciated. The Answer is : Return the DEClaser 3500 device to factory defaults. The DEClaser 3500 printer must have either no IP address or have the factory default address to be able to change it. As described in the documentation, setting jumper 6 on the network card and power-cycling the printer will return the network card to factory defaults. From OpenVMS, using arp and ping as described will allow an IP address to be assigned. From the front panel, you can reset the printer by pressing and holding both ONLINE and MENU when powering up the printer. Front panel security is controlled with the following key sequence: Value (down) Value (down) Value (up) Value (down) Select.
