The Question is: I recently resurrected my Alpha 1000a and it still runs like a champ. I recently purchased an Alpha DS10 and would like to cluster these machines to test different storage scenerio's for SAN architect studies. Understanding that I have to update the fir mware to run 7.3 on the AXP1000, I was wondering if I could use my original system disk image and upgrade it to be the "shared" system disk in my cluster. To go from 6.2 to 7.3 I would assume this would not be a "direct" upgrade and was wondering how man y iterations my 6.2 system disk would have to be upgraded to get to current 7.3 (6.2 to 7.0 to 7.1 to 7.2 to 7.3 or can I skip a few of these?) I understand that my layered products are a whole different set of issues. Thanks! The Answer is : Please read the installation and upgrade documentation, and please read the OpenVMS Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). The OpenVMS FAQ has, in particular, a list of the common upgrade sequences.
