Seeking DQDRIVER (ATA, IDE) Enhancements?

I have installed a 40 Gb IDE system disk on an AlphaServer DS10.  I would like
 to improve the disk I/O by setting the device to DMA.  Is this possible?  I
 loaded Firmware V6.2.
