HP OpenVMS Systemsask the wizard |
The Question is: Decwindows is not starting on my XP900. The graphics device is GZA0. When I do a show dev gz it shows up as device status unavailable. How do I fix this? The Answer is : The OpenVMS Wizard will assume this is a PowerStorm 4D10T ELSA GLoria Synergy graphics controller. What happened prior to this failure? Was DECwindows ever configured and working on this system? Which graphics controller? DECwindows troubleshooting information is included in the OpenVMS Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document. Ensure you have the current SRM firmware loaded, and ensure you have the mandatory ECO kits and the graphics-related ECO kits loaded. Pointers to these resources are in the OpenVMS FAQ. That the GZ-series device is marked offline is not confusing but not consequential, and this is a display oddity that is expected to have been resolved in more current OpenVMS and DECwindows releases. Please seriously consider upgrading to a supported OpenVMS release, and an associated supported DECwindows release.
