HP OpenVMS Systemsask the wizard |
The Question is: I currently have a 3100-85 running LAT services and have an established gateway to our Netware 3.12 Server run Netware LAT services. It is primarily used by a small number of simultaneous Netware users to log into VMS sessions, run a few modest applicati ons and transfer a few small files back and forth using WRQ's Reflection software utilizing NLAT protocol and WRQ's file-transfer which runs on PC and VAX platforms. I am in the process of bringing online an Intel-Based Windows 2000 Server and will move users over to this system once I am able to establish the same VMS usage funtionality I have presently via Netware. What would be the most cost effective way to do this? Someone suggested using a CISCO 2611 Router to accomplish this - but that is a rather vague concept for me. Is there a software solution or inexpensive hardware solution for this. The Answer is : You have reached the OpenVMS Wizard, and not the Network Wizard. That said, the OpenVMS Wizard would encourage you to review the available IP-based solutions and IP-based networking hardware. For a related discussion of PATHWORKS 32 client (for Microsoft Windows platforms) for use with LAT, please see topic (8593). For IP-based access, no Microsoft Windows client package is required. Your OpenVMS VAX version is very old. For assistance in acquiring a solution specifically tailored to your local system and networking needs, please contact your local HP sales office directly.
