Console Terminal Serial Wiring?

The Question is:

 
how do you configure a vt420 as a serial console that is connected to an alpha
 ds20e?

The Answer is :

 
  Please use the SRM console command
 
    set console serial
 
  as discussed in the OpenVMS FAQ, and please acquire or solder
  the wiring adapters for the PC-style pinout DB9 connection as
