The Question is: I am trying to speed up my home-grown odbc process between Windows 2K server and my Alpha 200 4/233 running vms6.2. I purchased a DE500-AA and installed it along with ALPBoot and ALPLan ECO's. I then ran the following tests: Client machine: Dell 1Gig Ethernet Connection File: 24,281,807 Byte file Test1: to Alpha 200 10BaseT connector: 63.7 seconds or 381.17 KB/sec Test2: to Alpha 200 100BaseT connector: 59.67 seconds or 406.92 KB/sec Test3: to Another Dell 1Gib connector: .58 seconds or 42,010.05 KB/sec Note: The 100 BT did not show much improvement over the 10BT card. Are they any OpenVMS parameters that need to be adjusted? The Answer is : Your OpenVMS version and your (likely) IP version are ancient, your AlphaStation system is near-first-generation-class with corresponding near-first-generation PCI and EV4-class CPU performance -- not to mention the field of other hardware- and software-related considerations and other possibilities for this performance review is quite huge. For details on setting up the negotiation for the DE500, please see the OpenVMS FAQ.
