HP OpenVMS Systemsask the wizard |
The Question is: DECWindows is not starting on my XP900. The VGA is ELSA Gloria Synergy, VMS is Ver7.2-1. the monitor was BLACK when VMS was booting up and runing, DecWindow was in startting. but however, I can boot up VMS from CDROM, I looked at some DECW config files, in DECW$DEVICE.COM graphics device is GZA0. but When I do a SHOW DEV G , it can not show out. How do I fix this???? in urgent!!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Answer is : The OpenVMS Wizard will assume this is a PowerStorm 4D10T ELSA GLoria Synergy graphics controller. What happened prior to this failure? Was DECwindows ever configured and working on this system? Which graphics controller? DECwindows troubleshooting information is included in the OpenVMS Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document. Ensure you have the current SRM firmware loaded, and ensure you have the mandatory ECO kits and the graphics-related ECO kits loaded. Pointers to these resources are in the OpenVMS FAQ. That the GZ-series device is marked offline is not confusing but not consequential, and this is a display oddity that is expected to have been resolved in more current OpenVMS and DECwindows releases. Please seriously consider upgrading to a supported OpenVMS release, and an associated supported DECwindows release. answer written or last revised on ( 27-JAN-2003 ) ; close window buy online or call 1.800.282.6672 privacy statement using this site means you accept its terms feedback to the webmaster ) 1994-2003 Hewlett-Packard Company The Answer is : For information on troubleshooting DECwindows startup problems, please see the OpenVMS FAQ -- in the case of the PowerStorm 4D10T ELSA GLoria Synergy and other recently-supported graphics cards and problems with graphics support in general, please also apply the available GRAPHICS ECO kit(s) and all mandatory ECO kits for OpenVMS and also for DECwindows, as available. Various recent OpenVMS releases and DECwindows releases have such kits. The device is not showing because it is either misconfigured, or the OpenVMS device autoconfiguration has been disabled, or there is a low-level failure or error in the device or in the OpenVMS startup.
