OpenVMS and Windows Networking?

The Question is:

 
I have an old Vax and would like to be able to telnet to it from a PC, am told
 this is possible but could be cost prohibitive?
 
What software do I need?
 
The vax is not used very often only for achieves, so I am only looking for
 something basic. We currently have a serial connection but this is not very
 convenient!

The Answer is :

 
  You need to install an IP stack on the OpenVMS VAX system.
 
  You may or may not already have a license for the TCP/IP Services
  product, many systems were sold with UCX or NET-APP-SUPP licenses.
 
  Various commercial and open-source IP stacks are available for
  OpenVMS, as are other networking tools -- such as Kermit.
 
  The TCP/IP Services package installation kit is included with most
  OpenVMS distributions, but your OpenVMS version is sufficiently
  ancient that you will either have to upgrade the OpenVMS VAX
  version from its current decade-old software to a more current
  version, or locate a suitably ancient TCP/IP Services stack
  (circa V4.1 or V4.2).
 
  The PATHWORKS 32 client kit for the Microsoft Windows system
  includes DECnet support, which would provde a different network
  connection into the OpenVMS VAX host and a different solution.
