The Question is: Hello, we are currently trying to mount a drive from our AS400 to our Vax. On the Vax via UCX Iv'e got our device mapped as pathname = /dvpt and the logical file system as $1$DIA4. I've got an export defined as file system=/dvpt/don and the host=swf01 whi ch is the 400. ON the 400 we use this command MOUNT TYPE(*NFS) MFS('/don') MNTOVRDIR('/Pinta'). "Don" is the directory on the VAX, "Pinta" is the library(dir) on the 400. Where getting object not fount and security errors. We don't know if we have Vax issues(UCX) or AS400 issue. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Don Miller The Answer is : You are having problems with the remote system configuration; with the IBM AS/400 series or the AlphaServer 400 series or the AlphaStation 400 series -- based on the command syntax shown, the remote system appears to be an IBM AS/400), as the configuration of the remote system IP servers and IP setup is almost the usual cause of object not found errors and of security errors. Most any NFS server system generally requires the configuration of a map of remote client users to the associated local user value and of the devices that should be exported; both an EXPORT mechanism and a map providing the configuration of user proxies. Many systems also require that the NFS server be configured and started. Please contact an IBM AS400 Wizard for assistance in configuring the NFS Server settings and the NFS proxy access settings. The $1$DIA4 name is very similar to an OpenVMS disk name for a DSSI disk device, and would not be the choice of the OpenVMS Wizard. Within OpenVMS, the TCP/IP Services settings -- please make sure you are running V4.2 with ECO and please consider an OpenVMS VAX upgrade to OpenVMS V7.3 and to TCP/IP Services V5.3 with ECO (current, as of this writing) -- are detailed in the TCP/IP NFS documentation, for both the NFS client and the NFS server. This documentation is available at the OpenVMS documentation website; please see the FAQ.
