Differences between product releases?

The Question is:

 
Hi All,
 
I will be doing an upgrade of VMS on my system from 7.2-1 to 7.3-1.That will
 also involve upgrading the compiler from DEC C V5.5 to Compaq C V6.5.Now can
 anyone throw a light on what would be the difference in between these two
 compilers?

The Answer is :

 
  The OpenVMS Wizard would encourage a review of the documentation for
  the various intervening compiler releases as well as the target release,
  though the most basic difference involves improved error detection and
  diagnostics within the newer compilers.  (Within the most recent C
  compilers, you can also select to have multiple versions installed.)
